COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE (CSA)
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) connects people to their local food source. Grown out of an old tradition, the CSA model has played an integral part in supporting the return of a strong local food system. The farmer offers ‘shares’ in the farm for sale to the local community in the winter or early spring season. By joining a CSA (purchasing a ‘share’), members enter into a partnership with the farm in which they share in the risk and bounty of each season. CSA membership helps pay for the early season costs of farming: seed, water, labor, equipment, and materials.
At Aspen Moon Farm, our dedication to providing members with top quality seasonal produce puts the freshest possible local food on your table every week. And in the process, a CSA membership can be lots of fun! You will see the seasonal changes first-hand each week when you gather your vegetables at the Farm or by observing what is available weekly at the markets. CSA members are invited to two walking farm tours (Spring and Fall) with the farmers to see the changes, ask questions, and see where your food really comes from. Members may take advantage of our seasonal u-pick opportunities. Members receive first priority for seasonal bulk-ordering for home preservation projects.
2020 CSA shares are now for sale,
and we have some exciting improvements!
Choose your own CSA items each week! It's all about YOU!
Choose 7-8 items from the booth when you pick up (of those, 1 or 2 featured seasonal items will be required each week along with suggested usage. This will encourage good seasonal variety and help you broaden your palate!). See example shares below for better understanding.
Why the new format? We want you to have more choices in your share to better suit your life! You'll still be nudged to try new things and expand your palate with the weekly "Featured Item". This will also reduce the use of plastic bags because we won't have to pre-portion everything- yay! We are hoping this will reduce labor costs as well. More flexibility in pick-up time is another bonus. At the Farm, CSA pick-up will be open Tues, Weds, Thurs noon-6pm. The Boulder pick-up location is still limited to the hours of the Wednesday Farmers Market, but members can easily switch between Farm and Boulder pick-up as needed for a $5 admin fee per switch (note: we have removed the annual $20 fee for Boulder pick-up). Yes, this will be the first year of a new system, but don't worry, we will make it all fantastic for you!
Summer CSA Share
2020 Shares are provided May 19th -October 29th (Boulder pick-up is May 20th- October 29th). NO CSA July 13-25th, as the farm will be closed these 2 weeks for a mid-season break. This is 22 weeks of CSA shares.
In general, the CSA provides about a 10-15% discount on your produce throughout the year.

Summer CSA Pick-Up Locations
Tues, Weds, Thurs 12-6pm at the Farm. You can come anytime in this window each week because you will be choosing from a vast variety of items at the Farm Stand which will be restocked daily. The roadside Farm Stand is also open to the public at that time; members benefit by being able to purchase extra items if desired. Location is 7927 Hygiene Rd. If you have been a member with us in the past, please know that the Farm Stand will be set up with a lot more produce to accommodate this new structure.
4 - 7PM at the Wednesday Farmers Market. You will gather your produce, flexible farm-stand style, straight from our market booth displays. A priority CSA check-out table will allow for easy in-and-out when the Market is busy. At the Market, Boulder members will be able to pick up CSA shares and conveniently shop for other market goodies at our booth, as well as around the market . . . think fresh fruit, cheese, bread, and meats!
The Wednesday Farmers Market is drastically less crowded than Saturdays, allowing for ease and convenience! Wednesdays also offer live music, prepared meals, and a local beer garden. Wednesday parking is available for free after 3pm in the City lots accessed from 14th Street between Canyon and Arapahoe. Our booth is conveniently located at the northeast corner of the market, right at Canyon Blvd. next to the parking lot.
There will be 3 weeks of CSA pick-up in October (after the Wednesday Market ends) where you will need to pick-up at the Farm, but you will be able to choose Tues, Weds, or Thurs as described above (we will help members connect with each other if interested in sharing pick-up duties, which has worked well in the past for Fall CSA members who live in Boulder).
Pick-up is at Potager Restaurant located at 1109 Ogden Street, Denver, CO.
Pick up your share Tuesdays 4-6 pm, the perfect time to stop in Potager restaurant for a drink and appetizer and to be inspired by the seasonal menu before you head home to cook for the week. Paul Warthen, owner/chef, is one of the best supporters of good local food and the menu at Potager reflects just that.
Your share cost includes delivery to Denver and help from friendly Potager staff to distribute shares. Yippee for good local food in the big city!! All shares will be pre-boxed for quick and easy pick up (no choices are available, nor biweekly shares, as this is a unique arrangement).
The option to purchase any of the following add-ons will be available as you proceed through the online CSA sign-up.. Available only for CSA Members who have purchased a summer vegetable share.
We are proud to offer Certified Organic fruit provided by Ela Family Farms in Hotchkiss, CO. Fruit pick-up will be offered on six separate dates from mid-August through the end of October. Typical fruit shares include: peaches, pears, apples, fresh apple cider, and jam. Lines can often be long at the Farmers Markets for fruit, and often fruit sells out quickly. You pick up your fruit share with your Aspen Moon Farm CSA on the designated dates.
We offer 10 weeks of custom fresh organic flower bouquets to adorn your home from mid-July to mid-September. All flowers are grown here at Aspen Moon Farm. Flowers help to diversify the farm and attract beneficial pollinators and insects for better crop production. The flowers also make the farm a more beautiful place for everyone.
